Emergency Reporting alternative
Leaving Emergency Reporting?
NFIRS was retired in February 2026, and every department in the country has had to touch its reporting system since. If that pushed you into looking around, here is what stationOS reports does, what moving your history actually involves, and the two things we cannot do for you yet.
What Emergency Reporting has going for it
It has been a working fire RMS for a long time, it holds years of your department’s records, and it is now backed by ESO — which means it is not going anywhere and it has a support organization behind it.
Staying put is a legitimate choice, and it is the cheap one. An RMS migration costs a chief real evenings. Nobody should move because a new system is prettier; move because something specific is not working.
What reports does differently
The argument here is not module count. It is that the reporting was built for NERIS rather than converted to it, and that the call writes most of its own report.
Built for NERIS, not converted to it
Our NERIS codes come straight from the federal spec, so when the feds change it, we find out before your reports do. reports checks each report, submits it to NERIS, and catches anything that gets stuck partway. stationOS is on the FSRI integration-partner list, which you can check yourself rather than take our word for.
The call writes most of the report
The dispatch arrives through CAD, members mark responding in Respond, and the incident report is already populated with the CAD data and the real responder list before anyone opens a laptop. The crew picker even opens with each member placed on the rig their drive says they rode, badged INFERRED — a first draft for an officer to correct, not a claim to be trusted blind.
You decide what counts as finished
NERIS leaves a great deal optional. A department can switch on its own required fields — mutual aid, actions taken, the medical module — so “our reports are always complete” is a setting rather than a habit somebody has to enforce in review.
Origin and cause recorded properly
Arrival conditions, damage extent, floor and room of origin, heat source, item first ignited, fire spread, acres burned, cause and cause detail — plus whether the fire needed investigating and who did it, down to the state fire marshal, an arson investigator, law enforcement or an insurance investigator.
Review that is a workflow, not an honor system
Drafts, review notes, approval and a printable report, with crews able to see and write a pending report while it is still a draft rather than waiting on one officer to do all of it.
One price, printed
$3,999 a year covers reports along with alerting, apparatus checks, certifications and the department calendar — unlimited devices and stations, no per-seat arithmetic, published on the site so it can go into a budget request without a sales call.
Is this actually a fit?
We would rather you find out here than twenty minutes into a demo.
Worth a look if
- You are a volunteer or combination department and NERIS is the thing that pushed you into looking.
- You are already paying separately for alerting, scheduling and rig checks, and would rather write one cheque.
- You do not transport patients, or your EMS reporting is handled elsewhere and will stay there.
- You want the price before the conversation.
Not yet, if
- You need an ePCR that submits to your state. Ours is not finished and we do not sell it. If your department transports, you need NEMSIS submission and billing, and ESO, ImageTrend and First Due all do that today.
- You have a prevention bureau. There is no inspections, permits, occupancy or plan-review module anywhere in stationOS. Not a thin one — none.
- You need fire-investigation case management. We carry the NERIS origin, cause and investigating-agency record, but not the case file, evidence log or chain of custody a fire marshal means by the word.
- You need accredited training course content. We record that training happened; we do not supply the courses.
What moving your history actually involves
We have an importer for Emergency Reporting, and we would rather be straight about what it is: it reads the reports you print out of ER, rather than connecting to it directly. That means your history does come across, but the process is hands-on and we do it with you rather than handing you a button.
We also import NFIRS data directly, which covers the years before the sunset.
What we will promise is help, not speed. Anyone telling you an RMS migration takes an afternoon has not done one. Expect us to be on calls with you through it, and expect to run the old system read-only for a while after.
Printed, so it goes in a budget request
Bring a real incident to the demo
Fifteen minutes with one of your own recent calls put through it tells you more than a feature tour.
